雅思写作中的两篇作文，对考生积累的词汇量和句型的多少非常具有挑战性，那么想得高分就得避免使用重复的句子和结构，要用多种多样的方式在句子中表达你自己的想法，常写的句子有四种基本类型，那就是简单句，复合句，复杂句和组合句。


简单句
1. 有一个谓语动词和一个单一主语的句子　　Computers make life easy for many people.　
2. 有两个并列谓语和一个单一主语的句子　　Computers cost a lot of money and require regular maintenance.　　
3. 有两个并列谓语和一个复合主语的句子　　Businesses and individuals buy computers and use them mostly for correspondence.
以上的句子都是简单句，因为他们含有一个独立的句子结构。

复合句是包含两组或是更多的独立句子的结构，它们会以如下的方式构成：　　
1. 用分号连接　　Some people like computers; others are afraid of modern technology.　　
2. 以七种连接词之一构成，如and, but, or, nor, for, so, yet, 而且通常是用逗号连接的。　　Students usually write with a computer, but I like writing by hand.　　
3. 用连接副词，如furthermore, moreover, therefore等连接　　Students usually write with a computer; however, I like writing by hand.

需要注意的是上述句子中的标点符号是很重要的，使用错误是会影响雅思写作的分数的。
